Dominik Paris had already received, on the occasion of his three previous victories in Kitzbuehel (2013 and 2017 downhill, 2015 in super-g), the gondola that is awarded to the winner of each of the previous season's races on the most awaited weekend of the 'year, that of Hahnenkamm Rennen.
And in the morning of today, the carabiniere of the Val d'Ultimo celebrated the fourth triumph on the Streif, in the temple of world skiing, with the gondola n ° 45 (the same as in 2017) which has now become "his" in effect, while Josef Ferstl toasted instead to his first victory to Kitz, rewarded for the success of last January in the super-g.
And to think that, on the occasion of the ceremony of two years ago, the organizers emphasized the victories of "Domme" in alternate years, foreseeing for him a new triumph in 2019: "I want to win on the Streif also in 2018," replied Paris, who has instead respected the "deadline" once again.
The champion and winner of the Super-G World Cup was received by Sepp Burger, president of the cable car company, Michael Huber (president of Kitzbuehel Ski Club), the president of tourism in the area Signe Reisch and mayor Klaus Winkler, but two former champions were also present who, on those gondolas, wrote their own names like Felix Neureuther and Marco Buechel.
