At 28, the time to hope to become really great has almost expired for Erik Read, fresh from a couple of seasons without great results, but with the feeling that his talent can still explode from one moment to another. The Canadian slalomgigant has already resumed training on the track for a long time, accelerating operations on the snows of Zermatt, where he found himself with team-mate Trevor Philp (another element to keep an eye on ...) and some representatives of the nationals of Croatia and the United States. "I did a good job both in slalom and in giant, I trust to be able to better prepare for next season", confessed the "son of art". Read jr needs to turn after a vintage 2018/19 far from exciting: it started well, with 12th place in the giant of Val d''Isere and, two weeks later, the 17th in the slalom of Campiglio, the good Erik totally lost himself in the month of January with a series of releases in the classics among the rapid gates, not collecting anything at the world championships of Are. The season finale, however, signaled growth with the return to the podium in the European Cup (2nd in the Oberjoch giant) and the points in the World Cup found with the 19th place in the giant of Kranjska Gora, although the qualification for the Soldeu finals remained a chimera. Therefore the re-start between Solden and Levi is fundamental, from a starting pectoral point of view, as Read is now in 28th place in the giant WCSL and 45th in the slalom one.
