Seven blues for the men's slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which will usher in the new year for the third seasonal specialty event after Val d''Isère and Campiglio.
Italy confirmed with respect to the 3Tre challenge of last December 22nd, partly disappointing for the training of coach Simone Del Dio, but with a change regarding the inclusion of Matteo Canins in place of Federico Liberatore. It will be the absolute debut in the World Cup for the 24-year-old badiot, who will join Giuliano Razzoli, Tommaso Sala, Alex Vinatzer, Stefano Gross, Simon Maurberger and Tobias Kastlunger.
Everyone on the track on Wednesday 4 January 2023, with the first heat scheduled on the "Gudiberg" from 3.40pm and the second at 6.45pm. In the Bavarian locality, Italy boasts a very important tradition: six successes in slalom, the last of which is dated 2009 thanks to Manfred Moelgg, preceded by three victories by Alberto Tomba (1993, 1994 and 1995) and by the two seals of Fausto Radici in 1976 and Piero Gros in 1975.
The Azzurri also recorded five second places – with Giorgio Rocca in 2009, Manfred Moelgg in 2008, Piero Gros in 1976 and Gustavo Thoeni in ''74 and ''75 – as well as three third places for Tomba in 1992, Paolo De Chiesa in 1982 and Fausto Radici in 1975.
Last year there were two slaloms in which, in the first, the best of the Azzurri turned out to be Vinatzer in seventh place, followed by Stefano Gross eleventh, while in the encore came sixth place for Razzoli and ninth for Vinatzer.
