Together with Filippo Della Vite, the same age in 2001 who distinguished himself above all in the European Cup this year, he will be the other youngest blue of these world championships.
We discovered Giovanni Franzoni last season when, on the continental circuit, he had already reached the podium. The confirmations in the first part of the 2020/21 vintage convinced the technicians to field him in the World Cup, with the debut last December 20 in the giant on the Gran Risa. And the nineteen-year-old from Brescia of the Fiamme Gialle has now been given the opportunity to take sides at the start of a world championship, that of Cortina 2021, which for Franzoni will start only a few days late, considering that the alpine combined scheduled today was moved to Monday 15.
There is also a chance to see him in the giant on Friday 19th, even if the latest results in the European Cup were certainly not exceptional. The azzurrino himself talked about it, through the press office of Energiapura which takes care of the communication. "I feel good and I am relaxed, I know I have nothing to lose and I take it as a personal challenge - Giovanni's words - In the last period I had a drop in performance due to various reasons, but here I will be able to push to the maximum as I usually do and to have fun, without my thoughts disturbing me ”.
Goals for this World Cup? “I have no specifics for this combined, because I have never competed in this discipline in the maximum circuit. I did combined in the European Cup and I like them a lot: I want to go free with my head ”.
