The French sprinter, who destroyed both his knees in the terrible accident of January 2017 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, confessed to the key season of his career

Valentin Giraud Moine is a tough guy and he showed it just in the season ended a few weeks ago, making a real sporting miracle.
The 27-year-old from Orcieres, you will all remember, suffered an injury of unprecedented severity, on January 27, 2017, in the descent of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, when he was the absolute protagonist of speed and was a veteran (only six days before) from the fantastic 2nd place of Kitzbuehel, behind only the King of the Streif, Dominik Paris. The dislocation of both knees, with damage to the tendons that made them fear for the impossibility that "Valou" even returned to walking, seemed to have put an end to his career. Ten months later, the transalpine downhill skier returned and, step by step, returned to the World Cup circuit at the beginning of the 2018/19 vintage; certainly, the results have not arrived since the fast races of Lake Louise (with points only with the 24th place in the combined Wengen), also because during the winter the pains were not missed and another fall in the tests of the European Cup descent to Kitz has further slowed its run-up to the top. The season finale, however, was positive with some races on the continental circuit and 5th place in the national championship downhill at the end of March.
Just in these first days of May, Giraud Moine began a motorcycle tour on the roads of Sardinia and, to the colleagues of Ski Chrono, he had confessed that the next season will in any case be the decisive one. “I knew that the year of the return would be the most difficult, even if I would have liked to have done more World Cup races despite the difficulties related to the odds and therefore to the convocations. I am sincere: if I realize next season that I cannot return to a certain level, I will stop. It was difficult to accept to start from scratch or almost, but I still have reasons to try. "
