At 35, after a difficult first part of the season, the Olympic champion officially bids farewell to competition. He won everything, except the absolute World Cup he missed in 2012 before the many knee problems that have not prevented him from writing history in recent years. "I feel like I've reached my limit on a physical level."

An immense champion who leaves can only give us a sad day.
Beat Feuz has announced, through a joint statement with Swiss-Ski, the farewell to competition which will take place in exactly one month, on the occasion of the second descent on the Streif, in the temple of Kitzbuehel which he managed to conquer after a long chase next January 21st.
He won't go as far as attempting a world championship encore in Sankt Moritz, in the next world championship in Courchevel Méribel, because now the Swiss champion really feels he has given everything, after having won practically everything for a sprinter of that level. The reasons, after the masterpiece of Beijing 2022 when even the downhill gold at the Games became a reality, have certainly had an impact on the start of this difficult season, always far enough from the podium and already almost out of contention for the attempt to bring home the fifth World Cup in the queen discipline, like Franz Klammer.
Last March the feat of continuing the series had escaped him, folded in the finals by Kilde, now at the age of 35 the choice to say goodbye to everyone in advance of the conclusion of the 2022/23 season: "Push towards one's limits and taking risks has been my passion for years, now my feeling says that the physical limits have been reached – his words – After 16 years in the World Cup, on Saturday 21 January I will end my competitive career. I can't wait to be able to enjoy my favorite races in Wengen and Kitzbuehel again."
“I am incredibly grateful that I have been able to pursue my passion for so long and will now be able to spend more time with my family. Yes, I am excited about the new challenges that will come into my life,” concluded Beat.
In addition to the Olympic title and the four crystal balls in downhill, to that world title at home in the 2017 world championship, Feuz conquered 16 victories and 59 podiums in CdM, coming close to triumphing in the general 2011/12, folded only at the finals in Schladming by Marcel Hirscher, before knee problems conditioned him for at least 3-4 years. From Sankt Moritz onwards he won everything in downhill, also taking two world bronze medals (Vail/Beaver Creek 2015 and Cortina 2021) and two other Olympic medals, silver in super-g and bronze in downhill at PyeongChang 2018.
