Sunday will be a special race for Giuliano Razzoli; albeit 24 hours earlier than the fateful date of January 6, the 35-year-old slalomist from Reggio will live in Zagreb for the tenth anniversary of his first World Cup victory, which arrived on Sljeme hill on January 6, 2010.
That evening, the "Rocket" became big triumphing in a magical slalom for blue skiing, since Manfred Moelgg was second ahead of Julien Lizeroux, on the podium with the two top men of the national one led by Jacques Theolier, who returned from the quest '' year at the helm of the Italian slalom team. It was the ideal launch for the Vancouver Olympic triumph, a few weeks later, but Zagreb has always been, in its best years, the favorite track from the '84 class of Villa Minozzo.
In fact, there also came the first podium in CdM, exactly one year before that magical 2010; it was January 6, 2009 and only two super ones like Jean-Baptiste Grange and the host Ivica Kostelic managed to stay ahead of Razzoli, capable of finishing in 3rd place with the bib number 43. In the following years, Giuliano confirmed himself only in 2011, finishing 4th behind Myhrer, Kostelic and Hargin, after having signed the best time in the 1st heat, while the only discreet result in recent years has come just in the last edition, with the 19th place after the rebirth in Campiglio with 5th place two weeks earlier.
Precisely between the Sljeme and the 3Tre, this time with an inverted calendar since on the Miramonti gully it will compete on Wednesday 8th, Razzoli will go in search of the best sensations for a decisive month of January; after the 5 points collected in Val d''Isère, the last Olympic gold medal of the alpine blue ski as regards the men's sector has confirmed that in these four weeks it expects to reach the top of the condition.
If on the occasion of his 35th birthday, the "Rocket" said he wanted to play his third Olympics by focusing on Beijing 2022, the short-term goal is to go back there, at least in the top ten area, but with a dream to get back on a World Cup podium he has been missing for four years, when Wengen was second behind Kristoffersen and in front of Stefano Gross.
