Odermatt's balance sheet: "Happy despite everything". Can you apply for coppone already next year?

The Swiss phenomenon took the first win and another podium, with an injury on Gran Risa in the middle of the season. And Kilde's triumph shows that ...

He was one of the most anticipated men of the first post Hirscher season, after the podiums obtained in the last two giants of the previous year. Marco Odermatt did not betray the expectations, starting very strong with the first success of his career in the super-g of Beaver Creek in front of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who then went on to win the general World Cup. And just the example of the Norwegian, multi-purpose in some ways similar to the 22-year-old Swiss champion (although AAK is certainly more downhill and less gigantic than the Nidvaldese), makes us think that without a hitch even Odermatt can be in the fight for the sphere of absolute crystal in 2020/21. The first real year among the "great" of the Swiss was in fact conditioned by the injury to the external meniscus of the right knee, suffered in the giant on the Gran Risa: a month in the pits and the return to Kitzbuehel, but not immediately at the levels to which had left, they leave some regrets even if the balance still speaks of a second podium, obtained in giant with the place of honor in Yuzawa Naeba, and two other top five among the wide doors, with 5th place on the day of the crash in Alta Badia and the 4th in the last round of Hinterstoder. The 17th overall finish in the overall, with 434 points collected, clearly says little about Odermatt's enormous potential, who eventually finished 9th in the giant ranking and 7th in super-g. "It has been a season of ups and downs - the analysis of the same Swiss phenomenon entrusted to social networks - If I look at the last two months I am not fully happy, but looking back on the whole year it was fantastic, with my first victory followed by injury and then, with the return to Kitz in just 32 days, by another podium. Results obtained thanks to the whole team, coaches, physiotherapists, sponsors, friends and the same fans that I thank and look forward to next season ".
