The next, unless the last of his career surprises, will be season number 17 in the white circus for the Olympic slalom champion in Vancouver, who during the "Gran Gala of snow and ice" organized by "La Gazzetta dello Sport ”, he confessed a dream and a goal. Right at the foot of the Canalone Miramonti in Madonna di Campiglio, the "Razzo" (which after getting married at the beginning of June, in recent days inaugurated the family vinegar factory to start a post career as an entrepreneur) went with his mind to 3Tre slalom scheduled for next December 22nd.
"I made a promise to the organizers of Campiglio in 2012, when this very special race officially returned to the calendar - the words of the 37-year-old from Reggio Emilia - I told them that I had to get on the podium in this splendid slalom and I have to try again, after having obtained a fourth, fifth and seventh place ”.
And then again, on the great emotions experienced last season, that of returning to a World Cup podium six years after the last time. Always in the same place, Wengen. “I don't feel the age of a '84 class and I'm still excited to think back to last year, not just for the podium. The Olympics, even without the medal (8th place less than 3 tenths from the bronze), gave me unique sensations that I will remember for my whole life, because I knew it would be the last and I enjoyed it until bottom.
It is the magic of sport and I am happy to have still entertained the fans. I hope to be able to do it for another year, even though I am no longer a kid ”.
