FIS inspection in Campiglio, the countdown for 3Tre has started: on December 22nd (with public) the most anticipated slalom

We are working for the return of spectators to the Canalone Miramonti, after the ghostly 2020 edition. President Conci: "We are working with the aim of having a good number, albeit contingent, of people present at the race".

Last year, when Henrik Kristoffersen's amazing comeback earned the Norwegian his third triumph in "his" slalom, the 3Tre in Madonna di Campiglio was an open-air theater different from the usual, for the first time without an audience on that particular night on the Canalone Miramonti. Barring sensational surprises, the public will return for the 68th edition of the most anticipated slalom, next December 22nd with the first run scheduled at 5.45 pm and the second at 8.45 pm. As always, the summer months were an opportunity for discussion and preparation in view of the last 100 days of countdown for the 3Tre Committee, a team now well-established for an appointment that for the eighth year in a row is part of the World Cup calendar . Like every autumn, it is with the ritual inspection of the FIS summits on the ground of the Canalone Miramonti that the most intense and heartfelt phase of approaching December 22 opens. Accompanied by the 3Tre Committee, last Friday Markus Waldner (Chief Race Director of the Men's World Cup) and the circuit coordinator, Frenchman Emmanuel Couder, carried out the reconnaissance on the slalom slope together with Franco Scotton and Sandro De Manincor, respectively producer and director of the Infront production. The presence of the FIS in Campiglio offered the opportunity to deepen the important issue of health management, after the Covid-19 pandemic forced the entire 2020/2021 season to be played behind closed doors. The feedback provided by the FIS allows a cautious optimism on the possibility of finding the public on the two wings of the Canalone Miramonti (this will happen already starting from the opening in Soelden), as explained by the President of the 3Tre Committee, Lorenzo Conci. “The season that awaits us will not yet be that of a return to full normality: the controls and the bubble mechanism will also accompany us for next winter, albeit with some corrective measures. Let's not forget, however, that precisely these procedures allowed us to compete in the World Cup in safe conditions, in a winter in which, in Italy as in many other countries, it was not possible to ski ”. “However - continues Conci - on the part of the FIS top management there is an opening on the possibility of bringing the public back to the track, albeit perhaps limited in numbers, which is certainly the goal we are working towards. We are in close contact with the leaders of the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Provincial Agency for Health Services, as well as with the APT Madonna di Campiglio, Funivie Campiglio and the Municipalities of Pinzolo and Tre Ville, to share a line that allows to fully protect the safety of athletes and all the people involved in the event, and at the same time to enhance the excellence of Italian skiing and sport, a very important opportunity for promotion for an entire territory. It is still early to hypothesize a number or a percentage of turnout, but we are optimistic that on December 22nd the Canalone Miramonti will be able to reopen its doors to its public ”, concluded Conci.
