The men's Alpine Ski World Cup is getting to the heart, so that in the next ten days happening between Wengen and Kitzbühel its deepest races on the calendar. It will start with the Alpine Combined in Wengen.

Wengen is a fraction of the town of Lauterbrunnen in the canton of Bern, and is famous for its trophy of the Lauberhorn, traditionally composed of Downhill, Slalom and Combined, held since 1930. However, since 2005 the classical Combined has been replaced by a super combined - now definitively called Combined Alpina - which takes place on Friday and that is the prelude to one of the two most important days of the World Cup.
Among classical Combined, Super Combined and Alpina are 24 editions of multiple proof of alpine skiing held in Wengen and all of the biggest multi-purpose the history of the sport have written your name in gold. They have in fact won on 2 occasions Marc Girardelli, Pirmin Zurbriggen and Kjetil Andre Aamodt, then reached since it was changed by Regulation Benjamin Raich, Ivica Kostelic and Carlo Janka.
With the shortened downhill and the only slalom races, between active athletes have won the Combined Wengen even Bode Miller, Jean-Baptiste Grange, Alexis Pinturault, Ted Ligety and Kjetil Jansrud, to establish itself in the last twelve month test the which however Slalom was held on the final part of the Lauberhorn and not on the much more challenging Männlichen / Jungfrau.
Ranking relative to the podium it is led by a trio quite particular. Lasse Kjus, Bode Miller and Carlo Janka are indeed finished five times in the head in the top three in Wengen Combined with the first two are able to succeed with both regulations, while the Swiss with only one currently in force.
Italy has one win and six podiums in this race. The credit is mainly Gustav Thöni, who prevailed in the first edition valid for the World Cup held January 12, 1975, and finished second in the following two years. Also sweet memories for Peter Fill, who finished second and third January 16, 2009 January 13, 2006 for the only two podium finishes in the World Cup in this discipline, while the third-place finish earned him January 24, 1982 to Thomas Kemenater the only podium career.
The Alpine Combined in Wengen will be held Friday, January 13. The heats will start Descent 10:30 hours, the Slalom at 14:00.
