At work for a few days in Ushuaia, the 21-year-old from Manerba del Garda gets to the heart of a special preparation for him that will take him to a new level. With a guaranteed permanent position in all disciplines, next season there will be fun with this guy from whom, starting from super-g and giant, something interesting is already expected.

If for almost all of the Azzurri already present on the spot, the trip to Ushuaia is not a novelty despite the forced absence of the 2020 and 2021 summers, Giovanni Franzoni's first Argentina is truly special.
Arrived in Tierra del Fuego for a couple of days, with his "twin" Filippo Della Vite at his side and a good job to do also in the company of the slalomgigantisti, from Alex Vinatzer to Luca De Aliprandini, the blue jewel born in 2001 is awaited by a very important training block to present himself in Soelden, for the opening of next 23 October, with all the intention of playing for the second qualification to the 2nd round of a World Cup giant, as an ideal launch towards a '' vintage 2022/23 which will be the first, true and complete adventure of the boy from Manerba del Garda among the greats of the maximum circuit.
Of course, the tri world champion jr made his debut in the cup almost two years ago, in a symbolic (and very difficult) race like the one on the Gran Risa of Alta Badia, also winning the call for the World Championships in Cortina where he took a fabulous 15th place in the giant, but it is from last season that we began to get serious with Giovanni, deploying him nine times at the starting gate, reaching the first points between the giant from Adelboden (another challenge not really worthy of ... little), 24th, and the super-g of Wengen (closed in 30th square).
In the meantime, the big leap was made in the European Cup, with the Brescia player who won the general classification by taking home three wins, the first of Zinal's super-g career already at the end of November. And be careful, because it was not trivial to start already so well after losing weeks of training due to the fracture of the left collarbone remedied in July, practically in the first training session of the pre-season in Les Deux Alpes.
At the end of the season, also the two junior world titles in Panorama, downhill and combined "seasoned" by bronze in super-g, the specialty where it was already gold in 2021 in Bansko (silver then in giant, are 5 in total youth medals at world level).
And now? Well, the 21-year-old from Garda has a fixed place guaranteed in every discipline right from the conquest of the absolute European Cup, but it is clear that he will have to be managed without exaggerating, especially in speed. There will be many descents, as many as 14, a little less "his" super-gs, eight, but the first North American trip between Lake Louise and Beaver Creek will certainly be a good test to understand at what level we will see Giovanni in the initial phase of the new season.
Without too much pressure, but with the conviction, his and the technicians who follow him, of being able to already become protagonists by improving, of course, the WCSL starting from the mother discipline, the giant. It is in super-g that there could be the possibility of already entering noble districts on several occasions, even if the very first challenges between Canada and Colorado will see Franzoni face unprecedented tracks for him. In addition to the one scheduled for the next four weeks in Ushuaia, the November block in Copper Mountain is also fundamental, which the Italian already partially faced 9 months ago, also competing in the Nor-Am Cup.
Calm and chalk, then, but the future is here.
