An unbearable pain, "the enormous difficulty of reaching the valley", the race to the Steadman clinic in Vail, the one that saw some of the greatest sportsmen in the world go by.
This is how Manuel Feller interrupted his season, giving up at least all the races in December, but with a high probability that the 2019/2020 World Cup of the 27-year-old from Tyrol may have already ended; the hernia of the disc that struck the Austrian slalom giant is one of the important ones, so much so that he immediately left Colorado and returned home for new checks and therapies.
For now the operation is avoided, but Manuel's back, who already found himself dealing with a hernia in December 2014 to then "manage" the problem in the following years, worries all right. "The pain has almost disappeared, thanks to the great work that the doctors did at the Steadman clinic and subsequently our physio - Feller explained to the Austrian media - Unfortunately it is unthinkable to think of skiing for now, but I hope that the season is not already over. We will understand in the coming weeks what to do, it would be nice to return to slalom in January, but it is difficult ... ".
Who will miss the races of Beaver Creek, in this case with a focus on fast specialties, is a Marc Gisin who has confirmed that he does not feel ready yet after the races, both in Lake Louise and on the Birds of Prey. "Trust is lacking to go to 100%," Michelle's brother confessed, hoping to raise his level to be at the start of the races in Val Gardena (20-21 December).
