He amazed the world of skiing with that crazy first heat in the slalom of Val d''Isère, when he signed the 2nd half behind Alexis Pinturault, starting with bib number 40 on a very difficult track like the Face de Bellevarde.
Luke Winters was no longer able to repeat himself at the levels shown at the start of last season (he was also very fast in Levi's opening, before going out), but he still got the first points in the World Cup with that 19th place in the race French, making a huge mistake in the 2nd heat, then hitting a couple of top 30s between Zagreb and Adelboden.
At 23, the potential of the Oregon boy is still to be discovered: the restart to prepare for the 2020/21 season began for him from the snows of his home, in Mount Hood, and with a novelty related to materials. "I stayed in the family anyway," Winters said, referring to the transition from Rossignol to Dynastar as regards skis, with Lange boots. Although still looking for continuity and a certain technical stability, it will be good to keep an eye on this boy starting from the specialty opening in Levi, in just under 4 months.
