Twenty-one seconds of gap in the first test of Wengen and that confidence that is still missing. Thirteen months after the terrible accident in Val Gardena, there is still time for recovery.

Thirteen months that were not enough to regain that confidence necessary to dive into the race, as he had already understood after performing the tests in the North American races and on the Saslong race where, on December 15, 2018, he risked his life.
Marc Gisin, who had already skipped the appointment in Bormio, had to raise the white flag after the first training of the Wengen descent: 21 seconds behind the best time of teammate Mauro Caviezel and too negative sensations to think of throwing himself down from the Lauberhorn, but on any other World Cup track. So the 31-year-old Swiss downhill skier has decided to end his season here, which has never actually started in terms of competitions; it still takes time to feel the real Gisin, what Michelle's brother dreams of returning to in the 2020/2021 season, which will see him try again after a spring and a summer of hard work.
He had already confessed it last summer / autumn: "I don't feel confident to push as a sprinter should do", and unfortunately for the Engelberg native the situation remained so even in the following weeks.
