The downhill skier, who has not competed since the day of the accident in December 2018 in Val Gardena, tested himself in Zermatt. The compatriot will be on skis already in October.

Switzerland awaits the return of two important men in the Red Cross team of speed. These are Marc Gisin and Mauro Caviezel, veterans of serious injuries albeit with very different timing.
In the first case, as explained to "Blick", the 32-year-old brother of Dominique and Michelle is trying in every way to return to compete in the World Cup next December (the first seasonal descent at this point is set for 12 December in Val d''Isère), two years after the terrible injury suffered on the Saslong on 15 December 2018, when Marc suffered 16 rib fractures with injuries to the lungs and hip.
Over the course of the past season, Gisin only managed to get out on the track for the tests of some races, without ever finding the speed and feeling necessary to return; the summer training in Zermatt was pretty good, “because unlike last year I'm doing what I want again, but my confidence is still a problem and an important step is missing before I can be where I want”.
The downhill skier from Engelberg does not rule out retiring if things don't go well: “I want everything to work well again by the start of the season, otherwise I would ask myself the question of whether or not to run again”; confirmed Gisin at Blick, while the speed coach, Reto Nydegger, spoke of a “Marc who manages to do better than last season, can take on all the workload without problems and now has to overcome the last inhibition threshold in order to return to the limit. I am confident that he can do it ”.
The same Swiss newspaper gave news of Mauro Caviezel's early return to the track: the winner of the last super-g World Cup, who had injured his Achilles tendon in June, would have to put his skis back on only after six months, losing a good part of the 2020/21 season. “Mauro's progression was truly sensational - explains his trainer Tom Jaeger - If there are no hitches, he will be able to return to the snow at the beginning of October”.
