The 23-year-old from Villach celebrated a season seasoned with three world medals and first World Cup victories, before the stop in Bansko with his left knee injury

Marco Schwarz has experienced the most beautiful and ugliest moments of his still young career within the same season.
Winning on January 1 in the city event of Oslo, he won his first World Cup success, then repeated in the Wengen combined; above all, however, the Carinthian multipurpose has literally been frightened in some slalom heats, placing himself in command of the first heats in Zagreb and Adelboden in particular, before giving in to Marcel Hirscher and even a lot of pressure. Normal for a boy in continuous growth, as demonstrated throughout the winter by taking a fantastic 7th place in giant Adelboden (with bib number 67 ...), after the slalom podium in Madonna di Campiglio, winning just between parallel and combined, to then go and get three world medals in Are, with bronze in combined and slalom and silver in the team event. In full race for the podium in the Cup overall, Schwarz was injured on February 22 during the super-g heat of the Bansko combined, where he played with the specialty cup Alexis Pinturault. The left knee has succumbed to the landing of the final jump, with the diagnosis that left no way out: injury of the crusader and internal meniscus, competitive stop at least until late summer and the first part of the next season certainly conditioned.
From what emerges after the first weeks of post-operation therapies, recovery is proceeding very positively with the '95 class, which Marcel Hirscher himself indicated as "the one who will be the next Austrian to win the World Cup" , which goes back and forth between its Carinthia and the Sporttherapie Huber & Mair center of Rum, near Innsbruck.
Just a few days ago, Schwarz was celebrated by his fan club, perhaps the most active in the men's world cup scene and always present in the main stages in Europe. To support him on this occasion there was also Fritz Strobl, the downhill Olympian at the Games in Salt Lake City 2002 who spent important words for Marco: "We are now talking about an athlete ready to win not only in slalom, but really complete to emerge in more specialties. I am convinced that it will recover fairly quickly and will give us great satisfaction ".
