A few months ago, he turned the sporting world upside down with his sensational and legendary triple title at the Olympic Games on the “Stelvio”, from the downhill to the super-G and team combined.

And yet his spirit remains playful and carefree, to the extent that he spent the entire summer training, of course, between the gym and athletic work and getting back on skis as early as mid-August, but also enjoying himself on his beloved motocross bike, which is useful training at the same time, although it certainly has to be used with the utmost care.

Franjo von Allmen is the benchmark in world speed skiing, although his national team-mate Marco Odermatt has won the Downhill World Cup in each of the last three seasons; and the crystal globe in the premier discipline, in which the 2001-born racer from the Bernese Oberland is the reigning world and Olympic champion, is the next major objective for the Swiss ace, who finished 2nd in 2025 and 2026 behind the king of the white circus.

“Yes, I really think I would choose the World Cup if I had to pick between that and the downhill world title in Crans-Montana – the 25-year-old Swiss phenomenon admitted to “Blick” – Mainly because I have already won the gold medal”.

His first major-event triumph came in Saalbach, before the “atomic” treble (although he skis on HEAD equipment, having also renewed his contract through 2030) in Bormio, but next February it is clear that the return of the World Championships to Crans-Montana, 40 years later, and on the “Piste Nationale” where he dominated last winter in the World Cup downhill won ahead of Dominik Paris, will be a huge objective.

Franjo is also an ambassador for these World Championships: “Why do I like that course? I would not want to reveal too much; after all, you always need to keep a few secrets, but I certainly like smooth, fast turns”.

His preparation so far has been excellent: “I am not thinking about the races yet; I am focused on the work and then on one objective at a time. I am taking it calmly and will do everything, also with the World Championships in mind, as I have done for all the major competitions recently. It has worked well, and as for the pressure of an event like this at home, it can be viewed in two ways because everyone expects me to perhaps win, but it is also true that I have nothing more to prove to anyone.

I certainly will not go to the start gate just to have fun; I want to give my best, but first and foremost it will be essential to arrive at that point healthy and in the right frame of mind”.
