Peter Fill started well in the first training run of Aspen in view of the downhill on Wednesday which will attempt to win his second specialty cup.

The 34 year old Castelrotto was second to 26 cents from faster, the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr. Third to 55 cents Canadian Manuel Osborne-Paradis, another fourth Austrian Olympic champion Matthias Mayer, the Frenchman Adrien Théaux fifth, sixth Swiss Carlo Janka, seventh Canadian Erik Guay, Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde eighth, ninth and tenth Austrian Romed Baumann and Max Franz.
The current leading specialty, the Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud, finished fifteenth. Nineteenth but with jump leads the Frenchman Alexis Pinturault, did not start the Austrian Marcel Hirscher. The other blue on track, Dominik Paris, has finished twenty-second. Tomorrow the second and final time trial.
