Presented the project on the film dedicated to Franz Klammer and the Olympic triumph in Innsbruck ''76

On February 15th, shooting starts, a millionaire budget and release next fall. Kaiser Franz: "I am proud that this film comes out so many years after that victory".

A world ski legend, a symbol for Austria. Franz Klammer is simply a myth and it could only be Kitzbuehel's week to launch the film dedicated to “Kaiser Franz” and his triumph in the Olympic descent of the Innsbruck Games. It was February 5, 1976 and the Carinthian champion won the most anticipated title that, 45 years later, will give life to a high-level film project, given that the budget is 5.5 million euros and, with the release scheduled in Austrian and international cinemas next autumn (hoping that the pandemic will help ...), filming will begin on February 15th. Today the official presentation at a press conference in Klammer's hometown of Fresach; as production manager and producer Jakob Pochlatko put it, “this is nothing more than the story of a national hero”. The aim is to immerse the audience in something heroic, with filming taking place between Carinthia, the capital Vienna and the Tyrolean mountain of Patscherkofel. The production is by Epo-Film and Samsara Film, made in collaboration with Servus TV, together with numerous other partners including ORF. “It's a story that is not only exciting, but one that will also bring back many good memories to so many people,” said Andreas Schmied, who will direct the film's project. His wife Elisabeth, with whom he co-wrote the script, compared Klammer's Olympic victory to the first moon landing: “Everyone knows where and with whom they watched the race”. It was important for both of them not to focus only on the race, so much so that the champion's wife, Eva, will play an important role as well as his longtime friend Werner Grissmann, but also the eternal rival Bernhard Russi. Franz and Eva Klammer can't wait for the film to arrive, as they said today at the conference: "I am proud that this film can be released so many years after that race," said the Olympic champion, world champion and multiple downhill winner ( 25) in the World Cup, with five crystal balls of the queen discipline on the showcase. “We are confident that the actors who will represent us will be able to do it at their best, taking us back to those years”.
