Useless test on the Stelvio: everyone is saving for the race, Hintermann with the best time

Descent of Bormio: the Swiss makes a void, but the other big names don't push thinking about tomorrow. Marsaglia still the best blue, just in front of Paris 2 seconds behind the leader.

A second and last test substantially useless, the one staged today on the Stelvio in Bormio, on the eve of the first of the three races of the Valtellinese triptych. Tuesday (11.30 am) the fourth seasonal descent on the hardest track of the circuit, so all the big names have thought about saving energy, with the exception of those athletes competing for the internal qualification. Niels Hintermann was already certain of the place, but he proved to be really fast (on an even more icy track than yesterday and with the times that have dropped) by signing the best time trial clearly, with over a second and a half of margin on Hemetsberger and Odermatt, only to find Clarey fourth, Seger fifth and, just over 2 ”, Matteo Marsaglia 6th and Dominik Paris 7th. The Piedmontese confirms himself as the best blue, but pushes only at times while "Domme" (started again with bib 1) stops completely in the final, confirming himself as a lightning bolt up to the Fontanalunga curve and starting clearly, for "his" race, among the big favorites. Ryan Cochran-Siegle is 8th at 2 "25, just outside the top ten are Feuz (2" 52) and Casse, 12th at 2 "63 and a cent ahead of Kilde, perhaps Paris's main rival for a descent anyway all to be deciphered. In fact, as usual, Mayer and Kriechmayr hid, today quiet training also for Innerhofer, over 7 seconds. (updating)
