The announcement was made on 9 May. "I leave the ski, but I will stay in the environment and soon you will have news".
Nicolas Raffort, downhill skier born in 1991 who was also a discreet protagonist in the World Cup, has chosen his new path: the transalpine athlete, in fact, will start from scratch in skicross, entering from the 2022/23 season in the circuit of a discipline that is having more and more success (even among the former skiers themselves).
There are those who will remain alpine skiing looking for space after being excluded from the Austrian national teams for the next year: Christian Borgnaes, in fact, obtained from the OESV the opportunity to compete for another national team, namely the Denmark which is the father's homeland.
The 26-year-old gigantist with eleven appearances in the CdM, six in the last season (without ever entering the 30) and with a debut with a bang in January 2021 in Adelboden, given that in the second race in the maximum circuit he obtained an 18th place that remains , so far, his only placement in points, has therefore chosen a new path. "The colors remain the same, but the shape changes - explained Borgnaes on social media on Sunday evening - Even if the decision to move from Austria to Denmark may seem drastic, for me it has always been natural and a bit like returning to home, being not only a proud Austrian, but also a proud Danish citizen.
I hope to be able to contribute in some way to the development of skiing in Denmark. I can only thank the Austrian federation, also for having facilitated my passage to Denmark, and all those who are by my side ”.
