Roberto Nani and the chance to leave Soelden again: a place for the opening is now certain

Out of the national cadres, but already brought into the group by Roberto Lorenzi for the Stelvio meeting, the Livigno rider has been training great since May and will return to that track where in 2015 he obtained the best result of his career.

Roberto Lorenzi had already said this after the composition of the national teams, in which Roberto Nani was not included for the second consecutive year. "There will also be opportunities for those who are not part of the groups", and the technical director of the men's slalom and giant teams has been speaking, bringing the 31-year-old from Livigno to train with the technical disciplines team already from the first meeting in August (finished today) at the Stelvio. Nani had already put his skis back in his Livigno in early May, managing training with his brother and proving that he was still madly hungry; of course, the exclusion had hurt considering that he had won the fixed place for the 2020/21 World Cup with the podium in the final ranking of giant in the European Cup, second and with a stage success in Berchtesgaden, last 8 February. His call for the opening in Soelden is practically certain, rescheduled for next 18 October, also because there will be space in the blue giant team, with Dominik Paris who will gradually resume avoiding participation in the inaugural race of the season, and with Manfred Moelgg who declared that he gave up (at least in the first part of the year) almost completely the challenges between the wide doors, to devote himself mainly to slalom. Nani ran three CdM giants in 2019/2020, without scoring points between Alta Badia, Garmisch and Hinterstoder, always starting with very high bibs; with the points of the European Cup, already from Soelden it will be possible to aim at least for the first points, on that Rettenbach where, on 25 October 2015, Roby obtained the best result of his career with that 4th place in the top moment of his adventure in the white circus. The last time of the Livigno in the Austrian opening, however, was the following year with a 24th place taken home.
