Sar slalom to close the long break men in Val Disere

The fifth and last round of the double weekend of Val d'Isere Ski World Cup Alpine Men Slalom will be one.

Val d'Isere, the town of about 1,600 inhabitants, is one of the historical sites of the Alpine Ski World Cup Men. Located in Haute Savoie, has hosted its first race, just one Giant Slalom, in 1968. Since then 91 total trials of the World Cup as well as the World Cup in 2009 and Downhill, Super G, Giant and Combined of the Albertville 1992 Olympic Games (Slalom is raced in Les Menuires). However they are only 5 of the Slalom World Cup played in the French resort, and five are also different winners. In 1992 in fact, the poor Thomas Fogdö won a success that launched him toward the cup of specialty, in 2010 Marcel Hirscher won the first slalom in his career, the same fate in 2012 to Alexis Pinturault while Mario Matt in 2013 and completed in 2015 Henrik Kristoffersen a roll of honor of the highest level in which we should not forget Manfred Pranger, who on this slope in 2009 brought home the world's gold in this specialty. Marcel Hirscher instead commands solo the scoring at the podium, having also obtained a second and a third place for a total of 3. Only one other guy was able to get more than the top three in the Slalom in Val d'Isere, Felix Neureuther, second in 2012 and third in 2015. it should also be pointed out that the second place of the December 6, 1992 to Thomas Sykora earned him the first of 21 World Cup podiums achieved in his career, and the third of 12 December 2010 is the ' one of Steve Missillier, but it can also boast of the Sochi Olympic silver in Giant. A podium for Italy in this race, obtained by Patrick Thaler December 15, 2013, when he was third behind Mario Matt and Mattias Hargin. For the rest little luck: in the edition of 1992 Alberto Tomba, who was the logical favorite, it did not go beyond the seventh place, while in 2010 Manfred Mölgg closed to control the first heat before being relegated to ninth place finish. Slalom in Val d'Isere will be staged on Sunday, December 11th. The first race will start at 9:30 am, the second at 12:30.
