Stefan Hadalin wants to bring Slovenia higher and higher: "The medal of Are has given me greater awareness"

Word of the combined world champion, ready to play a leading role in more specialties at 24 years of age.

Stefan Hadalin is now a certainty in the technical tests, but also in a discipline like the combined one that, with the relaunch wanted by the FIS, will allow him to fight for the positions that count. On the other hand, the young Slovenian achieved his best results in this type of race, with the historic silver obtained at the world championships in Are and, ten days later, the first podium in the World Cup with the 3rd place of Bansko behind Alexis Pinturault and Marcel Hirscher. Interviewed by the FIS press office, Hadalin started from that day in Sweden which, at least in part, could change his career: "In general, the 2018/19 season was my best - the Slovenian confesses - Winning one medal at the world championships was a huge success for me, my team and all the Slovenian public, because I then realized how much it was worth for our nation in the world of skiing (at the male level, it was the second in absolute in the world history and the first in combination, ed.) I knew that everything would be possible by closing in the 30 downhill and I was lucky to start with just the 1. It was a pain to follow every descent of the opponents, then everything gave way to pride and happiness, but I also shed a few tears ... ". Hadalin has examples to follow: "Among the former skiers, I have always been inspired by my compatriot Rok Petrovic (who died tragically at the age of 27), by Ivica Kostelic and, although it is strange to say it now, by Marcel Hirscher who brought the ski at a different level. Among the active boys, Alexis Pinturault is certainly one of the athletes I most admire ”. And if asked about the favorite trail, the answer is "the Kitzbuehel slalom on the Ganslern, because the slope with a thousand bumps, the bottom almost always frozen and the public make it special. Among the classics, I also really like Adelboden and Wengen ”. Finally, the preparation for a season in which to try to climb another step: “With my technician we are focusing more on resistance, because in the past I have had declines even during the winter. Of course, hard work in the summer always pays off. "
