Swiss Ski: numerous rib fractures with injuries to the lungs and unharmed pelvis for Marc Gisin

Marc Gisin was submitted last night and this morning to the treatment and examination of the case at the hospital in Lucerne, his condition is fortunately stable.

Swiss Ski announces that the 30 year old Swiss from Engelberg "speaks directly to the doctors and close relatives but continues to be intubated. Fortunately, both magnetic resonance imaging and head CT scan showed no serious injury. It is very painful for him that there are several rib fractures on the right side, which have also caused lung injuries. Except for the slightly dented acetabulum, the pelvis is unharmed (unlike what it seemed at first, ed). Furthermore, the posterior part remained intact except for some non-severe spinal fractures. "For optimal monitoring and care, Marc Gisin will remain in the intensive care unit at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital for the time being". Obviously the prognosis is reserved and there is not the slightest idea if and when the athlete can go back to competing, if he has the strength and the possibility to do so, as in 2015 he suffered another serious injury in Kitzbühel causing an ugly bleeding at the base of the skull.
