The junior alpine ski world championships are launched, finally back with a complete program after the last two editions of Narvik and Bansko affected by the pandemic.
And there are many hopes of blue medals, for the Panorama world championship inaugurated by the two descents: yesterday the only test, for both girls and boys, in view of today's big appointment with start scheduled at 18.00 Italian with the female queen competition.
There is a big favorite and it is the Austrian Magdalena Egger, born in 2001 three times gold in Narvik 2020 and, despite injuries, already seen in the World Cup. The twenty-year-old from Arlberg made a void in practice and will start with bib number 3, while Emma Aicher will close the descent with bib 26, who finished second Wednesday in training and we know very well for her slalom skills, but that in perspective (we are talking about a class of 2003) already sees versatility.
Candidates for the podium are athletes with already important experience, especially in the European Cup, such as the American Lauren Macuga and the Swiss Delia Durrer, third and fourth time trialists, but also the daughters of art Lisa Nyberg (who already won in the continental circuit, in giant) and Amanda Salzgeber, while the two blue at the start are the 2002 Vicky Bernardi and Alice Calaba. For the first, 15th time trial (3 seconds behind Egger) and today I start with bib number 7, for the second exit from the stage in practice and today bib number 10 on the shoulders.
At 19.00, four Italians will be at the starting gate of the men's downhill: aiming straight for the medals, after having already won the gold in super-g and the silver in the giant at Bansko 2021, a Giovanni Franzoni in control in test, 8th at 54 cents from the Canadian Raphael Lessard, who preceded by a whisker the German Luis Vogt and the first of the Azzurri, Marco Abbruzzese, third at just 17 cents. The 2002 Ligurian class will start with number 13 in the race, for Franzoni instead n ° 7 (Lessard will have 8) and an eye for the trio of Austrians who preceded him in practice.
We are talking about Lukas Feurstein, the peer with whom he fought in the Bulgarian event a year ago, but forced to start in the race with number 56, of Lukas Passrugger and above all Raphael Riederer, who will open the descent with the 1 and already has he also showed beautiful things in the European Cup. For Italy, there will also be Gregorio Bernardi, 14th in qualifying and with bib number 14, after Simon Talacci (24th time trial yesterday) who will start with 11th and was silver in the world descent of Narvik 2020.
