If Flavio Roda has every intention of reapplying for the presidency of the FISI (despite the problem linked to the three mandates already carried out), which by next October 15 will meet in assembly to elect the new federal bodies and in particular to choose the President for the next four-year mandate that will lead to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, the first official candidacy of the possible challengers of the number 1 in office arrives in via Piranesi.
Through a press release, Alessandro Falez made known his intention to run for the presidency of the Italian Winter Sports Federation: the Roman entrepreneur decided to present himself to propose a new model of Federation that, looking ahead, knows how to face the challenges of a new era. A Federation that manages to be part of an increasingly evolved, global and integrated system with all the subjects involved in any way. A participatory Federation, able to listen and understand the needs and stimuli that come from the base and from the territory.
A Federation close to the needs of the Affiliates, marked by a two-year period of reduced activity; to the expectations of Technical Coaches and Masters for a professional, modern and multidisciplinary path; to the voice of the communities to which Winter Sports belong. A Federation that values young people by building a model that ensures vision, generational change and meritocracy. A Federation open to the new: new specialties, new trends, new media, new languages, new working methods. An inclusive Federation, attentive to the theme of the environment, of gender inclusion, sensitive to social issues.
A Federation projected towards the future aimed at redesigning the movement, bringing together all the stakeholders of the world that revolves around national and international winter sports. If successful, in the first three months of the mandate of the Alessandro Falez presidency, the States General of Winter Sports will be organized, i.e. a foundational meeting that will involve all the stakeholders and which will outline the 2026 Plan and the 2030 Vision of the FISI, defining objectives and contents equal to the challenges that await the Federation, and which will continue with an annual appointment in which the progress of the program of the new Federation will be reviewed.
The start of the season will consolidate the choices made by the current presidency, but gradually a new working approach will be implemented. Alessandro Falez has already participated in the federal elections in 2010, coordinating the candidacy of Carmelo Ghilardi, who was defeated by a few votes, and presenting himself on that occasion as a candidate for councilor.
Those elections were distorted by a large number of irregular proxies and Falez, together with his own ski club at the time - the historian SAI Roma - contested the outcome, obtaining the CONI High Court of Justice two years later. 'cancellation of the assembly and new elections which then led to the presidency of Flavio Roda in the first term.
Who is Alessandro Falez? 67 years old, Roman, married with four children, graduated in engineering with a Master in Business Administration, second generation entrepreneur in the services sector (he leads an industrial group with about 400 employees that deals with hotel management and health services). He has a great passion that derives from his maternal origins on Monte Amiata (Tuscany) and his paternal origins near Maribor (Slovenia). Skiing from an early age, taking his first steps at the Pirovano allo Stelvio summer school and doing competitive youth activities at the regional level.
Having become a ski instructor, he practiced for two years at Terminillo. Later he became a snowboard instructor and first level coach. To give his children the opportunity to get passionate about his favorite sport, he relaunches his historic Ski Club (S.C. Flaminio) involving many young people and starting them in youth competitive activity. The Falez family now has 6 ski instructors and has obtained recognition from AMSI and the National College as the third family in Italy with the largest number of ski instructors within the same family.
Falez becomes Vice President and then, for 10 years, President of the Lazio Ski Instructors College where he is now Honorary President. During his presidency he established the Ski Club Maestri del Lazio to ensure that all the teachers of Lazio were in possession of the FISI card. In recent years he practices competitive activity at the Master level by participating very actively in the circuit of national competitions (Italian Championships and Italian Cup) and international (FIS Master Cup, World Championship, Master Olimpic Games). In two seasons (2018-2019 and 2021-2022) he was selected as an athlete of the National Masters Representative.
