The AlpeCimbra Fis Children Cup is the most important youth alpine skiing competition in the world. An event that is a concentrate of exclusive ingredients: historic since it boasts 60 editions, prestigious because the names of the greatest ski champions are engraved in its roll of honor, innovative because the International Ski Federation chooses the Trentino race to experiment with new disciplines and formats, attractive because it always manages to attract young skiers from over 40 countries, distinctive because it makes Trentino and Alpe Cimbra known throughout the planet. And it will be the same in winter 2022, more precisely from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 January, when the 61st edition of this event will be held in the Fondo Grande area of Folgaria, the 51st with international validity as Criterium Giovani Fis. The organizational machine, which includes the TTS company directed by Fabrizio Gennari, but also the Apt Alpe Cimbra with the president Nicola Port and the director Daniela Vecchiato, as well as the Alpe Cimbra Ski Team that takes care of the technical aspect on the track, is ready to work in presence, after two difficult seasons following the health emergency. “We are ready - these are the words of the President of the Organizing Committee, Fabrizio Gennari - to write another page in the history of skiing, because whoever passes through our race then goes straight to the World Cup. The latest example in chronological order is that of the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic, winner of two gold medals in 2020 in Folgaria and her debut in the World Cup the following winter. We are working to go back to setting up an event with traditional contents, following the provisions of the FIS and Fisi ”. He is echoed by the president of the Apt Alpe Cimbra, Nicola Port: "The AlpeCimbra Fis Children Cup is a very important event in our territory, not only for the competitive aspect, but also by those who live there regularly, in testimony of how this race has become part of the fixed appointments on Alpe Cimbra. As a company for tourism we would like to highlight the vocation of our territory as a "Mountain of Champions". For this reason we are proud to support this event, together with Trentino Marketing, which is the first important stage for those who will be the champions of the future ”. A concept also remarked by Daniela Vecchiato, Director of Apt Alpe Cimbra: “Being able to propose the event in 2021 in full pandemic was a reason for great satisfaction. We are ready to face this edition with renewed enthusiasm and we hope that those moments of great emotional participation such as the opening parades of the Italian Selections and the international competition, as well as the suggestive parallel at night, will be held ". It is therefore no coincidence that the original program returns to the calendar, which includes the two selection races of the Italian national team on Monday and Tuesday with over 500 participants from all the national Fisi Committees, then the international team event on Wednesday afternoon, the parade through the streets of Folgaria with the inaugural ceremony and lighting of the tripod on Thursday evening, to get to the heart of the international appointment on Friday and Saturday with the under 14 and under 16 races of giant slalom and special slalom, valid to decree the 2022 champions, but also to assign the victory to teams in points and in the medal table for nations. The traditional painting competition will also be re-proposed, involving elementary school children who will create works related to the world of skiing, and which will take place in Trento. The tracks involved are the same as in the last editions, namely the Agonistica track at Fondo Grande, which hosts the giant slalom races, and the Martinella track, which instead is the scene of the special slalom challenges. The added value of Folgaria is that both races can enjoy the same finish line, where a small sports village is created. The team event, on the other hand, often varies its location, reflecting the quality of the slopes of the Alpe Cimbra ski area and with the aim of involving all the tracks: on Salizzona, on Martinella Nord and on Dosso della Madonna in Costa di Folgaria. The AlpeCimbra Fis Children Cup has been and will be a springboard for the great youth ski stages in the future. In the past, Gustav Thoeni, Piero Gros, Ingemar Stenmark, Marc Girardelli, Christian Neureuther, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Anita Wachter, Pernilla Wiberg, Deborah Compagnoni, Nadia Fanchini, Lindsey Vonn, Giorgio Rocca, Alberto Tomba, Kristian Ghedina and Marcel Hirscher have worn the bib. . Over half of the participants in the 2021/2022 World Cup passed through and some even won in the Trentino youth competition. A few names? Mikaela Shiffrin, Petra Vlhova, Marta Bassino, Sofia Goggia, Federica Brignone, Dominik Paris, Christof Innerhofer, Henrik Kristoffersen and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, just to name a few. We are confident that a new young ski star will shine on the slopes of Folgaria again next January.
