Double at home for Nadia Delago: her FIS super-gs in Val Gardena, trio for Buzzi after the descents

The three days Raiffeisen FIS Challenge ended: the podiums of the three super-gs staged today at Piz Sella.

Last day of all-blue races, for the Raiffeisen FIS Challenge in Val Gardena which saw seven fast trials take place in just over 48 hours, with the second men's super-g scheduled for today which has been canceled due to the increase in temperatures. As favorite on the home snow, Nadia Delago has made her the two super-gs of today at Piz Sella; the Olympic bronze downhill won in the first in 1 '' 25 "76, with more than a second and a half advantage over the second classified, the Romanian skier Ania Monica Caill, and 1" 71 over the German Nadine Kapfer who had won yesterday downhill. With the 12th place obtained by Teresa Runggaldier, another from Val Gardena was classified in the top 15. In the second super-g, Nadia Delago was just slower than a few hours before, with the 24-year-old from the C.S. Army that again dominated in 1 '' 25 "95, beating Sofia Pizzato by 1" 23, for a blue brace in front of the Czech Tereza Nova (+ 1 "75). In the third men's race of the event at Piz Sella, there was no escape for Emanuele Buzzi's opponents: the victory went again to the sappadino of the C.S. Carabinieri, who had also imposed himself in the two descents on Tuesday and Wednesday, and today triumphed in 1''24 "57 with an advantage of 75 cents over his teammate Federico Simoni, while on the third step of the podium was Marco Abbruzzese, with 79 hundredths of a delay. Among the local athletes the best was Mattia Cason (Carabinieri / Laion), seventh in the standings. Max Perathoner from Val Gardena (Selva) was classified, however, 17th. The Raiffeisen FIS Challenge 2021/22, in which more than 200 participants from 16 countries took part and which saw the debut of former World Cup athlete Werner Perathoner as race director, was a success and it took place without injuries. Now the organizers will return to focus on preparations for the 55th Saslong Classic, or the two-day men's World Cup on 16-17 December 2022 with super-g and downhill.
