Eliasch wants to break tradition: no endings in Saalbach in 2024, we go to Aspen and Colorado

The FIS president has already decided: the World Cup finals would no longer be assigned, in the pre-World Cup year, to the location that will then host the world championship event. And in Austria we are working to return to the men's calendar, but only in 2023/24.

Johan Eliasch wants to break with the past and a series of traditions which, according to the new course of the FIS led by the Swedish-born entrepreneur, will no longer be such. From the new competition formats to the World Cup calendar, up to an aspect that is linked to the latter: we are talking about the finals that are played, in the season preceding the World Cup, in the location that will later host the world championship. After Soldeu in March 2023, with the Principality of Andorra having obtained the organization of the last cup act for the second time after the excellent debut of 2019, it would be the turn of Saalbach-Hinterglemm, who in 2025 will then send the world championships on stage 34 years after the 1991 edition. According to what reported by laola1.at, it will not be like this: Eliasch wants to bring the finals of March 2024 to Colorado, with Aspen as a reference point after having already obtained the CdM races in the next season 2022/23, since there will be a second block in the United States in March, albeit only for the male sector. The great head of the organizing committee of Saalbach, Bartl Gensbichler, would have received the proposal to host women's competitions, but there is no time to set up the women's descent on the Zwoelferkogel, which in March 2021 saw the men protagonists of the recoveries that approached Marco Odermatt at the World Cup, then won by Pinturault at the Lenzerheide finals. The availability of the Austrian locality in terms of recoveries was not enough for an inclusion in the 2022/23 calendar, so together with the OESV we are working to have men's competitions in the course of 2023/24 when, in fact, the final expectations will end from another part.
