A difficult race that forces Giovanni Franzoni to postpone, at least for a couple of days, the possibility of closing the games for the absolute European Cup which, however, sees him clearly favored to win a trophy that would guarantee the new bi world champion jr also the permanent position in all disciplines in the next World Cup season. The giant of the Soldeu-El Tarter finals smiles at Sam Maes, with the Belgian born in '98 who finally gets his first victory in the continental circuit, recovering from the eighteenth place after the 1st heat (albeit "only" 1 "01 from the leader ) to beat Fadri Janutin by 13 cents and by 24 the master between the wide doors in this 2021/22 of the European Cup, the Andorra Joan Verdu who, right in the home game, fails to repeat himself but in any case celebrates both the podium of the day and the final classification of specialties. Verdu, in fact, precedes Janutin himself and the French Parand in the giant ranking, with Franzoni 4th and now with a margin reduced to 57 points against the Swiss (who is certainly not, however, a specialist in fast disciplines considered that now in Soldeu there will be super-g and descent) for the fight in the general. The best blue of the day is Filippo Della Vite, 10th just ahead of Riccardo Tonetti, with Alex Hofer 13th and Franzoni himself 17th, while Hannes Zingerle finished 20th and Pietro Canzio 28th. The downhill European Cup for the women's sector also ended, but without competing with the definitive cancellation of the final act and Juliana Suter who celebrates, after dominating in the first part of the season, with the first place ahead of the Norwegian Wembstad and to compatriot Durrer, third and therefore also with a permanent position for the next CdM. In the ranking of specialties, 8th and 9th place for the two blue who brought Italy back to the podium also in descent this year, namely Elena Dolmen and Monica Zanoner. Thursday will continue with the only female super-g scheduled in the Soldeu-El Tarter finals menu.
