Quality giant slalom training for Bassino and the other Italian women in Ushuaia, while the SAC is set to resume in Chile

Quality training, with a great deal of time devoted to giant slalom, for the Italian women in Ushuaia.

In Tierra del Fuego, eleven representatives of the elite groups and technical disciplines have been training since the beginning of the week. Marta Bassino needs to rack up plenty of kilometres and gates, together with Sofia Goggia, Elena Curtoni and Laura Pirovano, as well as the slalom/giant slalom specialists coached by Luca Agazzi: Trocker, Rossetti, Mondinelli, Valleriani, Collomb, Pazzaglia and Della Mea (who has to manage her workload after the back problems she experienced).

The other symbolic location during this phase of preparation is Chile. In particular, El Colorado is welcoming a host of World Cup stars, the latest to arrive being Marco Schwarz and Lukas Feurstein, while their speed-event teammates from the Wunderteam are splitting their work between La Parva. In the same ski area, the South American Cup is scheduled to resume this weekend, with Saturday's giant slaloms at El Colorado postponed, and today's programme featuring two slaloms (for both the women's and men's fields) at La Parva.

On Monday, 31 August, Marco Odermatt was also due to arrive with his teammates from the Swiss national team, but as emerged yesterday evening (HERE is the news published on NEVEITALIA), the trip was cancelled for the Nidwalden ace, who suffered a minor muscle injury.

On the other side of the world, Meillard and his technical-discipline teammates continue their work, referring to Switzerland's men's powerhouse, as does Lara Colturi, who has moved from Lake Tekapo and Treble Cone, where she trained during the first two weeks in the Southern Hemisphere, to the slopes of Cardrona, putting in intensive slalom work.
