Stefano Gross secured the success of the FIS slalom, staged today on the snows of the Alpe di Pampeago, for a race valid for the "Memorial Roberto Fontanive", an unforgettable alpine ski technician at Fiamme Gialle who personally followed the same specialist from Fassa.
For the 35-year-old financier from Pozza di Fassa, who returned to the podium two weeks after his third place in the specialty at the Assoluti di Sestriere, a seal with a very special meaning, dominating thanks to an overall time of 1''25 "66 and confirming the his leadership gained already in the first heat, to beat Filippo Della Vite (G.S. Fiamme Oro) by 34 cents. Third position for Corrado Barbera (G.S. Fiamme Gialle) 39 cents from the leader. Important gaps starting from fourth place for Alex Hofer, 90 cents from Gross, and Giovanni Franzoni, good 5th at + 0 ”93. The top ten was closed by Hannes Zingerle sixth, Davide Seppi seventh, eighth place for the Austrian Jakob Greber, Edoardo Saracco ninth and tenth position for Stefano Pizzato.
Vivien Insam triumphed among women with a time of 1''32 ”29, enough to inflict a gap of 17 cents on the Austrian Sophia Waldauf and 32 on the South Tyrolean Petra Unterholzner, the new Italian slalom champion. Down from the podium the other red and white Sarah Prantl, followed by the blue Emma Wieser and Francesca Fanti.
Tuesday will be repeated, always in Pampeago and always with U.S. direction. Dolomitica-G.S. Fiamme Gialle, with two other slaloms valid for the “Paolo Varesco and Mario Deflorian Trophy”. Start of the first run scheduled at 9.00, on the challenging slope of the “Agnello” slope.
