The lockdown does not stop the Val d''Isère. Federal President Vion: "The races are not at risk"

France "paralyzed" until December 1, but the SBB confirms the triple appointment with the Critérium de la Première Neige and the stage of Courchevel. Hotel node: on Monday a meeting with the organizers.

The World Cup races in December on the transalpine snows? They are not at risk, as firmly stated by Michel Vion, president of the French federation. The lockdown active from today throughout the national territory, announced by Emmanuel Macron until next December 1st, clearly poses problems to be solved in organizational terms; 7 races are scheduled in Val d''Isère, from 5 to 13 December with two giants, a downhill and a super-g for men, and the triptych of women's trials (two downhill runs and a super-g) from December 18 to 20, at the end of the traditional Critérium de la Première Neige which, already in December 2019, had to raise the white flag (due to weather conditions) for the pink circuit. Then there are also the two giants of Courchevel, also for women, scheduled for the weekend of 12-13 December. As reported by the Ski Chrono portal, on Monday 2 November a meeting is scheduled, in Albertville, between the federation, the organizers of the various stages (including Chamonix, where two men's slaloms are expected on January 30-31) and local authorities, with the accommodation node hotels in the area, having to host hundreds of people in a period that could still be in lockdown (in the event of an extension of the government with respect to the date of 1 December). "The World Cup races are not in question, since they are major international events and linked to television rights - Vion told the AFP agency - They will certainly be closed-door competitions, the situation linked to invitations for partners remains to be seen. and VIPs ”, concluded SBB number 1. On the other hand, it is possible to postpone the first stage of the ski cross World Cup, again on French snow: Val Thorens, in fact, could host the inaugural appointment of the 2020/21 season, scheduled from 3 to 5 December in the Alpine resort. .
