After the slalom opening in Levi, which will allow the Women's World Cup to start, on the weekend of 19-20 November, with a few weeks delay compared to the schedule, it will be up to Killington to host the maximum circuit for girls a week later.
We have already explained how the situation in the town of Vermont, on the east coast of the United States, is far from ideal in terms of snow, very different for example from Colorado, where at Copper Mountain you train great for appointments. of speed between Lake Louise (both women and men), where there are no particular problems in the same Canadian location, and Beaver Creek (only for the male sector).
Practically until yesterday, the "Superstar" of Killington which foresees female giant and slalom between Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November, was still "green" since there was no snowfall and the temperatures are very high, even higher than 15 ° over 1000 meters of altitude (the giant's race track starts at 1128 meters of altitude).
For some hours, however, it has been possible to activate artificial snow and the organizing committee's confidence has transpired in view of the FIS snow control, set for Wednesday 16 November. In fact, within the next weekend, it should remain just above 0 ° for a few days and there is still a week to prepare the entire Superstar track, where last year it was not possible to complete. the giant (interrupted after 9 runs of the 1st heat) due to wind, an element almost always present in Killington.
If in 2020 we did not even go overseas, with the covid to stop the North American trip, the last two editions regularly disputed as regards the American challenge between the wide doors, were won by the blue tips of the discipline; in 2019, for the first time in CdM, an amazing Marta Bassino triumphed in front of Federica Brignone who, in turn, had taken the success on the Superstar a year earlier.
And the curious fact is that at least one Italian has always climbed on the podium in the giant of Killington, given that in 2017 there was the third place of Manuela Moelgg (on the day of Viki Rebensburg's victory) and 12 months before the same placement came obtained by Sofia Goggia (with Worley in first place), in the first top 3 of her career in the maximum circuit.
Levi will therefore receive green light from the FIS tomorrow, Thursday 10 November, while on Friday 11 it will be Lake Louise's turn to have the ok (also in this case there should be no problems) for the three men's fast races scheduled from 25 to 27 November. Next week, as mentioned, it will be in Killington on Wednesday 16, 24 hours later in Lake Louise for the women's competitions of 2-3-4 December, dates in which the Beaver Creek men's triptych is also scheduled, where the delegates of the Federation Internazionale will be on site on Friday 18 for snow control.
