Croatia presents the World Cup athletes for 2022/23 and there is the retirement of Elias Kolega

Tormented by injuries, at the age of 25 he leaves a slalom runner who until 2019 seemed to be on the launching pad. Popovic and Ljutic are the reference points for the women's sector.

One of the first national teams to unveil team cadres for the 2022/23 season is Croatia. In the next World Cup, there will be few but as always of good quality the representatives of a team that, at a female level, will focus on technical disciplines with a Leona Popovic who has grown a lot in the last year and followed by coach Goran Racki, and on that great talent which responds to the name of Zrinka Ljutic (coached by dad Amir, with the global supervision of a certain Ivica Kostelic ...), in the first real year in the cup and ready to find continuity in the points, both in slalom and in giant, after having finished in a great way at the Méribel finals. At the male level, the group is divided into four elements: the reference point and "A1" is Filip Zubcic, who actually struggled a lot in the last season of giant, but seeks redemption to return to the greats of the discipline , then we find Istok Rodes, a good level slalomist like Matej Vidovic, as well as Samuel Kolega, while in Team B there is Tvrtko Ljutic, brother of Zrinka. Another Kolega, Elias, announced at the same time his retirement from competition: at not even 26 years old, the 1996 class says goodbye to the tormented skiing in the last two years (he has not competed since the beginning of 2020, just before the Covid stop of the Coppa del World) from injuries. Thirty-eight bibs worn in the maximum circuit and with an Olympic participation, at the PyeongChang 2018 Games, the Croatian slalomist obtained as best result a 6th place in the race between the narrow poles of Adelboden in January 2019.
