After Elias Kolega, another athlete born in 1996 has decided to say enough is enough. In this case we are talking about the women's team and Andrea Komsic, who in the last few hours announced his farewell to competition, one month after finishing with the podium in the slalom of the national championships and after wearing 30 bibs in CdM, without ever taking a points placement. Komsic, who played the last race in the maximum circuit at the Schladming slalom last January, has participated in the beauty of three editions of the Olympic Games, from a very young age in Sochi passing through PyeongChang and finally Beijing.
The best placement in major events (he has also played five World Championships) will remain 19th place in the 2015 Vail / Beaver Creek combined world championship.
On the other hand, the sprinter of the Equipe de France, Matthieu Bailet, ended up under the knife yesterday. The Nicoise born in 1996, who just over a year ago in Saalbach won his first podium in the World Cup, with 2nd place in the super-g dominated by Marco Odermatt, is back from a good season with four top ten in the disciplines fast and 6th place in the SG of the finals in Courchevel, but was partly affected by the fracture remedied last September, in training in Zermatt, which in any case did not prevent Bailet from competing until the national championships at the end of March.
The plate fixed in the right forearm has been removed with a surgical intervention that will allow Matthieu to resume preparation at full speed towards the 2022/23 vintage. "Now a little 'rest, waiting for the next season ...", said the transalpine downhill skier on social media.
