The Congress of the International Federation, scheduled from today in Milan, opens with important news for the next World Cup. We will talk about it again only next spring for the combined downhill / super-g and giant / slalom.

Nothing to be done, the FIS has to back down and the expected revolution called for by Johan Eliasch, partly contested by many federations, will only be partial.
In the 2022/23 season, in fact, we will not see combined in the World Cup calendar, both for the males and for the female sector, as well as the experiment of the type of race that should have put together downhill races. and super-g and a combo between giant and slalom.
None of this, we will have a total of 40 women's and 42 men's races (in the next few hours the officiality of the complete calendar, approved today by the FIS Council), as the International Federation itself has made official towards the end of this first day of the congress. FIS which is going on stage in Milan.
For the combined we will talk about it again in spring 2023, while the change of the rule for the parallel has been sanctioned which will no longer provide for a maximum gap of half a second, but the actual time. Tonight the assignment of the Alpine Ski World Championships for the 2027 edition and, on Thursday, the formation of the new FIS led council, this is already certain since it is the only candidate, by the current president Johan Eliasch himself.
