Double meeting for the organizers of the Saslong Classic Club between Crans-Montana and Zurich. Senoner: "We also presented a project dedicated to children".

Val Gardena increasingly protagonist in the panorama of a white circus which, in recent days, has experienced important meetings between various organizers, including those who, on the splendid Saslong, have been organizing the historic men's speed races for decades and aiming to host, 59 years after the first and only time, the 2029 Alpine World Ski Championships.
A delegation from the Saslong Classic Club attended the traditional Club5 meeting in Crans-Montana, where the World Cup will take place in five years. The annual meeting of the organizers of the most prestigious races of the World Cup took place in the tourist resort of the Canton of Valais; the highlight of the event was the meeting with the president of the FIS, Johan Eliasch, and with the general secretary Michel Vion, during which the various organizing committees were informed personally about the future plans of the International Federation.
The centralized marketing of the World Cup designed by the FIS was discussed, but not only: the widening of the maximum circuit up to China, the extension of the season and the drafting of a long-term calendar were also addressed. aspects concerning sustainability and environmental protection. In the 34-year history of the Club5, this was the first time that the current FIS president has taken part in the annual meeting of the World Cup organizers' union. “Workshops with interesting external speakers on topics such as safety, marketing and organization were also held in Crans-Montana. The program was enriched by some side events, such as an internal golf tournament and guided visits to a winery and the largest underground lake in Europe, Lac Souterrain. A heartfelt thanks to our friends from Crans-Montana for their great hospitality ”, says Rainer Senoner, president of the Saslong Classic Club.
The delegation from Val Gardena continued on to Zurich, where last week the traditional autumn meeting of the FIS took place, for the first time in attendance in three years now. “The central theme of the meeting was the upcoming 2022/23 World Cup, the details of which have been clarified in several meetings. In addition, we were able to present to the FIS sub-committee for teens and children, a project that aims to support young ski athletes all over the world. So in December, athletes who meet the different criteria will be able to train for free for up to five days at Plan de Gralba. Food, accommodation and possibly even a coach will be included ”, concluded Senoner.
The Saslong Classic Club has used the international stage to promote Val Gardena's candidacy as the venue for the 2029 World Championships, but as is well known, the CdM will also stop in Val Gardena next winter, the last weekend before Christmas. The super-g will take place on Friday 16 December on the Saslong, the next day here is the legendary descent for a 55th edition which will sanction the 99th and 100th Val Gardena race in the maximum circuit.
