Lake Louise out of the World Cup calendar?
It is very probable, starting from the 2023/24 season, due to a precise choice of the organizing committee of the historic Canadian stage, linked above all to the problems of plant engineering and costs to be incurred to host the maximum circuit.
The confirmation comes from several sources and Herbert Mandl himself, who has returned to the head of the OESV as technical director, spoke about it to the Austrian media. The most concrete possibility is that Canada can still host a CdM appointment, it is difficult to understand if for the female and male sector as in the case of Lake Louise, with a location like Panorama (which also organized the last junior world championships) that could result in pole position as part of a clear desire, that of the FIS president, Johan Eliasch, to compete in several races on the North American snow, as evidenced by the choice to return next March to Palisades Tahoe and Aspen, for a second trip overseas (for men only) after the classic one between the end of November and the beginning of December.
In the next autumn, Lake Louise (which made its debut in the cup in 1980, immediately with a lot of blue as Herbert Plank triumphed) will no longer be the opening of the speed season, given the novelty of Zermatt / Cervinia: appointment scheduled for November 26-27 for men, classic trio for women from December 2 to 4, with two descents and a super-g recalling the achievement of Sofia Goggia, winner in all Canadian races last year.
