Here is the summary of the decisions taken by the FIS autumn congress last week in Zurich regarding Alpine skiing, with the various subcommittees and working groups that had the opportunity to meet and finalize preparations for the coming season.

As always, when you enter an Olympic season, there are no huge changes, but some important topics have been discussed and some important decisions have been made. Two were the candidates for the FIFA 2021 World Cup finals: Bulgarian Bansko and Swiss Lenzerheide. The 2017-2018 season counts 78 races in 32 locations, with the finals in Swedish Ã…re, where all the slopes and infrastructures will be tested for the 2019 World Cup. Oslo is returning to the World Cup calendar with a City Event in the Holmenkolm Arena on January 1, while Courchevel will host a female parallel slalom on December 20, while Garmisch-Partenkirchen will for the first time organize a downhill run, always female, on February 3rd. The highlight of the season will undoubtedly be the PyeongChang Winter Olympics next February 2018. Final inspections revealed that the fastest race venues, Jeongseon and the Yongpyong race races, are ready to welcome athletes and host races for Olympic medals. * All proposals / decisions are subject to approval by the FIS Council, which will meet in November for final decisions.
