Alpine Skiingworld cup 2021/22

The choices of France, Norway and Sweden for Lech / Zuers: there will be no Worley, Kilde and Braathen

In view of the parallels on Saturday and Sunday, transalpine with Pinturault and the world champion Faivre, as well as Clara Direz who won in Sestriere 2020. Fifteen Scandinavians in the race, with Kristoffersen already 2nd in the last edition.

Between absences (not a few, especially at the female level) and some important confirmations, the mosaic of participants in the second round of this World Cup is being composed. On Saturday with the women's competition and Sunday with the men's one, here are the parallels at the Flexen Arena in Lech / Zuers and, after Italy with its ten athletes, other reference nations have also revealed their choices. Like the France of Alexis Pinturault, who won the parallel 12 months ago in Arlberg, and the world champion of specialties, Mathieu Faivre, but which will also count on Clément Noel, Cyprien Sarrazin (who won the only race in CdM precisely in this discipline, in 2016 in Alta Badia), Thibaut Favrot and Victor Muffat-Jeandet. Only two transalpine women competing, without Tessa Worley who will leave tomorrow for the States to prepare for the Killington giant (and will also go to Lake Louise). On Saturday we will see Clara Direz, who surprisingly triumphed in Sestriere in January 2020, but has just returned to the races in Soelden, and Coralie Frasse Sombet at the gate. Eleven Norwegians proposed for the two races in Lech / Zuers; you are in the men's field, where the absence of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was already known, who flew to Colorado to prepare the two speed triptychs, but that of Lucas Braathen is also added, and with the second classified of the Austrian parallel of 2020, Henrik Kristoffersen, to lead a team with important chances as there will also be Rasmus Windingstad (his parallel in Badia in 2019), Leif Kristian Nestvold-Haugen, Atle Lie McGrath, Timon Haugan and Fabian Wilkens Solheim. Five women at the start, with Maria Tviberg (fresh from best in career with 5th place in Soelden) and excellent specialists, triumphing in the team event of the last World Championships in Cortina, such as Kristin Lysdahl, Thea Louise Stjernesund and Kristina Riis-Johannessen, in addition to Mars Monsen. Finally, the quartet of Sweden: Estelle Alphand and above all Sara Hector will look for the coup, while Kristoffer Jakobsen aims high in the men's test, with teammate Mattias Roenngren at his side.
