Monsen narrowly beaten again: Brandis wins the first super-G at La Parva by 0.03 seconds, Novakova beats Cutler again among the women

Here is the first of the two SAC super-Gs, again on the La Parva slopes after the downhill races in recent days, with the same women’s podium as 24 hours ago and Barbora Novakova taking her second win.

The Czech, born in 2002, once again beat Haley Cutler, with the American finishing 0.44 seconds behind, while Argentina’s Nicole Begue took another third place (+1.39). She finished well ahead of the second Czech in the standings, Alena Labastova, who was 2.84 seconds behind her compatriot. Just over 3 seconds behind the winner came Switzerland’s Stoessel, Andorra’s Pou Olive and Canada’s Fleckenstein.

Then came the men’s race, also without any Italians at the start, and after his two third-place finishes on Tuesday and Wednesday, Felix Monsen looked ready to break through. Then Benno Brandis arrived: the German, born in 2006, is already a junior world champion in this discipline, having won the title at the 2025 age-group World Championships in Tarvisio. It was his first podium and first victory on the South American circuit, and it also made it three German wins in a row after Roesle’s one-two, with Roesle skiing out in the final section today.

The veteran Swede, who started with bib No. 1 and trains here with the Austrians, as he will for much of the season, had to settle for second place by just 0.03 seconds. He in turn finished ahead of Luis Vogt, another German on the podium, and Slovenia’s Nejc Naralocnik, who shared third place, 0.49 seconds behind.

Blaise Giezendanner missed the top three by 0.04 seconds, in another tie, this time with Estonia’s Luik. The Americans Nelson and Lindenmeyr followed, just under seven-tenths behind, along with Fresquet, the second Frenchman in the standings. His compatriot Gamel Seigneur completed the top ten.

The Chilean stage concludes on Friday with two more super-Gs on the schedule.
