Swiss promise Gian Luca Barandun dies with the hang glider

The accident occurred during a training flight yesterday morning in the canton of Graubünden.

In the morning of yesterday, in Schluein in the Canton of Grisons, the Swiss skier Gian Luca Barandun lost his life while he was on a hang-gliding flight. Witnesses say that during a maneuver to get closer to the landing point the hang glider crashed and the impact with the ground was fatal. The twenty-five year-old from Graubünden was considered the heir of Carlo Janka in the red-and-red environment; specialist in the fast tests, Barandun had his debut in the World Cup in the Combined Wengen in January 2017 where he had closed in twenty-eighth position. His best results came last season with the ninth place in the Combinata di Bormio and the fifteenth place in the Descent of Lauberhorn that had earned him confirmation in the team A Helvetic.
