Odermatt could still fly to Chile in seven days: the “Blick” report

After Swiss-Ski revealed directly on Saturday evening that Marco Odermatt had suffered a slight muscle injury, confirmed by examinations at the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich after the Nidwalden ace experienced pain during athletic training last week, positive reports have emerged regarding the fitness of the major favourite for the next World Cup as well.

The winner of the last five crystal globes will not travel today to El Colorado with his giant slalom teammates, from Tumler to Murisier, who had accompanied him during his first on-snow approach of the season in late August at Zermatt. However, according to “Blick” and the Swiss newspaper’s leading correspondent, Marcel W. Perren, there is a concrete possibility that “Odi” could be ready to travel to Chile in seven days.

From Monday, 7 September, the champion from Buochs could manage to train with the speed team at La Parva over the following three weeks, while naturally also dedicating some sessions to giant slalom.

Henrik Kristoffersen arrived in the same El Colorado ski area last weekend to begin his preparations on the South American slopes. The Chilean snow will also be the destination for more than two weeks of training for the Austrian women’s team, with Ortlieb, Scheib, Haaser and Brunner among those who, after Ushuaia, will once again be together at the new camp. Mikaela Shiffrin herself, after spending the first ten days or so at those latitudes, has returned home and should resume training in South America this week.

In the meantime, after Saturday’s South American Cup giant slalom races at El Colorado were cancelled, the two slaloms scheduled for the circuit stop at La Parva did not take place on Sunday either.
