Years of exceptional work at the helm of the French slalom team, with the gem of the Olympic title won, just 3 months ago, by Clément Noel at the Beijing 2022 Games.
Simone Del Dio, 46, Genoese by origin and Bardonecchiese by adoption, had a great experience as a coach of the transalpine team and now that the FISI has formalized his return as head of the Italian national team of slalomists, here comes a '' another great satisfaction.
Del Dio, in fact, was awarded at the Cascina Marchesa in Corso Regina Margherita in Turin as the best Piedmontese technician of the year; the coach registered for the Bardonecchia Ski Club received the most important title in the context of the “The Coaches” event, promoted and organized by the Montagnedoc group. The award for the best skiman of the year went to another architect of an Olympic gold medal in slalom, the one won by the Slovakian Petra Vlhova in Beijing.
Bruno Grandi, from Cesano Doc, in the past worked with the Norwegian national team and in the spring of 2021 he was called to be part of the staff of the Slovak champion who, in addition to the Olympic title, also made the slalom World Cup his own. It is proof of the absolute value of the technical school of the Western Alps and it is precisely that value that the Montagnedoc group, led by Luigi Chiabrera, intends to reward and report to public opinion every year at the end of the season.
Montagnedoc has as its institutional objective the communication, promotion and development of the mountains in a broad sense and in particular on the themes of sport, tourism and culture, at the same time establishing the award for the best coach and the best Piedmontese skiman of the European Cup and the Italian Cup. World. The event at Cascina Marchesa was organized in collaboration with the Piedmont Regional Council, Uncem, Arpiet, the Turin Chamber of Commerce, the FISI Western Alps Committee, the associations of ski instructors, the Via Lattea Tourist Consortium, the University of Turin - Kingdom and Suism, the ADA-Association of Hotel Managers, Tourism Turin and the Ski Club GIS-Italian Ski Journalists, which each year indicates the names of the award winners.
World-famous sports and technical manager Ivo Ferriani attended the event as a representative of the IOC. The FISI was instead represented by the National Vice-President Pietro Marocco, by the President of the Western Alps Committee, Pietro Blengini, by the Deputy Vice-President of the AOC Committee Maurizio Poncet and by the Councilor and Secretary Lorenzo Vettore. The “Gli Coachatori” event is sponsored by the City of Turin, the Metropolitan City of Turin, the Regional Council and the Piedmont Regional Council.
The theme on which the reflection and discussion between the operators of the sports and tourism world linked to the Piedmontese mountains focused was that of water resources, never like this current year, at the end of a winter characterized by a shortage of atmospheric precipitation and a historic drought. The conference combined with the recognition of coaches and skimans each year allows experts to discuss possible development and investment strategies in mountain areas.
