Shiffrin returned to the States: last night in New York the "Gold Medal Gala", then back on track

After the triumph in Soelden, Mikaela flew overseas with her boyfriend Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who will now begin preparing for the North American speed races. The event served to raise funds for the development of US skiing.

He has lived in Europe since the beginning of October, returning to prepare for the opening of the World Cup last Saturday on the Rettenbach, and hit the mark by winning for the second time in Soelden. Now, for Mikaela Shiffrin a few days of rest and institutional commitments, in particular the one staged on Thursday evening in New York: after the 70th pearl in the circuit, the Colorado champion flew overseas again, together with her boyfriend Aleksander Aamodt Kilde ( which will remain in North America to then re-enter the competition directly in Lake Louise) who accompanied her on the stage of the “Gold Medal Gala”, the 55th edition of which was staged at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. An event that launched the Beijing 2022 Games in the US, but it served above all to encourage fundraising, through an online auction (open until November 1), in favor of training, development and educational needs of young American skiers. Shiffrin will train again at home and then return to Europe (he should be in Lech / Zuers, where he did not compete in 2020), focusing above all on Levi's two inaugural slaloms and then tackling the fifth transoceanic journey in a couple of months, with the technical races of Killington (27-28 November) to precede the triptych of Lake Louise, which will again see Mikaela as the protagonist in speed. The dream, however, is to win practically at home, in the Vermont town where she grew up skiically, even in a giant way: the 26-year-old from Avon has always and only come close to success on the Killington "Superstar" between the wide doors, dominating instead in slalom four times, from 2016 to 2019.
