Slovenia presents itself among young people and veterans. Deputy Olympic champion Kranjec: "On the snow at the end of July"

Yesterday in Ljubljana the launch of the 2022/23 season for the Slovenian team; the statements of the gigantist, a point of reference for the entire men's team, and of Ilka Stuhec.

Slovenia aims to be a protagonist also in the next year which will include, in addition to an extra-large World Cup, also the world championship in Courchevel-Méribel. Back home from the Beijing 2022 Games with Zan Kranjec's silver in the Olympic giant, the Alpine ski team has already been presented on Thursday in Ljubljana, to officially kick off a new season. With the same expected protagonists, including youngsters and veterans, and the expected return of Meta Hrovat still in the pits after the serious injury suffered in the giant from Lenzerheide which, however, will not prevent the ''98 class from practically preparing on skis complete. As reported by "skiweltcup.tv", many representatives of the Slovenian team continued to ski until late spring. Like Zan Kranjec, author of that extraordinary 2nd round with five circles that brought him one step away from the Olympic title, precisely in the year that is perhaps the most difficult for a great specialist like him. “We carried out the last training on the snow in Bansko on 11 April - explained Kranjec - I had three weeks of rest: I have never been a great vacationer, spending most of my time at home. I went to the sea in Croatia for two weekends and, from May 2nd, I started dry training again. It will be like this until the end of July, then back on track ”. Ilka Stuhec has changed everything a bit, leaving coach Stefan Abplanalp after 3 years, and still believes in a rebirth that appears increasingly difficult for the two-time downhill world champion, considering all the difficulties of the last few seasons and the suffering she has endured. with troubles in the knees. "I took a break because I needed to clear my head and rest my body - explained Ilka - In April I wanted to ski, but we had to cancel the training and now I'm preparing in a structured way, to then come back on Sunday on the snow. I feel good and I still have a great desire and motivation to continue ”.
