Another stop on the South American circuit in Argentina (two more slaloms tomorrow), with the Andorran dominating the second run to beat Hilzinger by one second, while Good completes the podium. Among the men, the Germans take the top spots with a one-two-three-four: Edoardo Simonelli finishes in the top 20.

There was little time to catch their breath after the races in Chapelco before another South American Cup event arrived, once again on Argentine snow.
This time, the venue was Cerro Catedral, with today’s slaloms beginning with the women’s race, where Carla Mijares Ruf claimed the third victory of her career (and her second of the season after Cerro Castor) in the South American circuit. The 2002-born Andorran, who, it is worth recalling, finished an outstanding top 20 in the World Cup at Semmering last December, made the difference in the second run after Francesca Baruzzi Farriol, the recent giant slalom winner in Chapelco, failed to finish the first.
Jessica Hilzinger, who had been 3 hundredths ahead of her at the halfway stage, must once again postpone her first victory, finishing exactly one second behind Mijares Ruf. The German took second place ahead of Nicole Good, who is trying to rediscover her form in these SAC events after all her physical problems and finished third (+ 2”14). She comfortably held off the French skiers Boric and Bourgeois, fourth and fifth at three and a half seconds, followed by Britain’s Gorringe and fellow Frenchwoman Chalamel in seventh.
There were no Italian women in the race, while Edoardo Simonelli continued his campaign with another good result, finishing 19th in the men’s slalom, which was dominated by the Germans. Fabian Himmelsbach had “turned” with a fine half-second lead, but Dominik Zerhoch fought back in the second run to beat his compatriot by 19 hundredths. The German finished second ahead of the country’s other leading contenders: the usual Nickco Palamaras, with the 2004-born skier third at 0”33, and Lukas Krauss (+ 0”36), who finished ahead of Andorran Xavier Cornella Guitart (fifth, 74 hundredths back), Spaniard Tomas Barata Mercadal (+ 0”75) and Japan’s Aihara, who dropped five places in the deciding run.
Two more slaloms are on the menu on Friday.
